Voith launches Linx technology for dryer fabrics

HEIDENHEIM, Germany, July 30, 2008 (Press Release) - Voith Paper Fabrics is expanding its portfolio of innovations with a new breakthrough for spiral dryer fabrics - PrintTech LFC with Linx technology. The state-of-the-art product combines advantages of different designs into one dryer fabric that offers effective sheet support, ease of cleaning and resistance to damage on demanding, high-speed single tier sections.

“This advanced, patented technology which was fully developed and manufactured in Ipoh, Malaysia, gives our customers an alternative that will continue to meet their need to improve the performance of dryer fabrics, “ said J.P. Liew, Dryer Fabrics product manager Asia/Pacific, Voith Paper Fabrics. “With a complete range of spiral dryer products, we look to serve Asia/Pacific market by delivering on our global commitment to engineered reliability and innovation.”

PrintTech LFC with Linx technology has a unique level spiral surface. By reducing the elliptical shape, which is seen on normal spiral fabrics, the Linx solution increases the contact area and support to the web for improved tail threading and operation. It’s a must-have upgrade for every dryer section which results in high quality paper and energy savings.

Moreover, the Linx technology features an X-shaped stuffer. The development of this stuffer is based on a study which investigated factors that cause different forms of fabric contamination that occur within different dryer sections. It allows easier cleaning and better permeability retention by reducing the formation of contaminant particles. This also helps to maintain sheet control and paper quality.

In terms of fabric wear and damage the Linx technology requires 6% more material than other spiral fabrics, and 30% more than standard high-speed woven fabrics, to enhance the resistance to wear and damage. In addition, Voith Paper Fabrics only uses specialty monofilaments from its in-house yarn supplier to ensure the outstanding properties and the high quality of the product.
