Weyerhaeuser - GENERAL MANAGER - US and China


We are about to launch an exciting, joint venture in the Fujian Province of southern China with the Yongan Forestry Company, and seek a highly motivated professional to lead this project as: GENERAL MANAGER.


Working for one year in both the U.S. and China, then full-time in China, the selected candidate will assume responsibility for developing marketing and business plans and achieving revenue goals. The initial focus will be on establishing the plantation and subsequent harvesting. Key tasks include: meeting legal and administrative requirements of the Provincial governments, business and region, and managing relationships between Weyerhaeuser, the community and environmental impact.


This position calls for a results-driven, hands-on leader and motivator with business acumen, an entrepreneurial spirit and knowledge of timberland processes and products. Of critical importance is bilingual (Chinese/English) skills, an understanding of the Chinese culture and a willingness to relocate to China. Candidates must have least 5 years’ operations and project management experience, a bachelor’s degree in forestry or similar field (master’s preferred) and the ability to be a key member of the senior management team and move the organization forward.
